If you’ve been waiting all year to eat real Kesar mango — the wait is finally over.

Kesar mango season 2026 has officially begun. The farms of Sasan Gir are harvesting, and the first batches of Gir Kesar mango are ready to ship across India.

But the season is short. And the best fruit goes fast.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2026 Kesar mango season — when it peaks, how long it lasts, and how to order before it’s too late.

What Is Kesar Mango Season?

Kesar mango is not available year-round. Like most traditional Indian mango varieties, it follows a strict natural harvest cycle tied to the climate of the Gir region in Gujarat.

The season is driven by:

  • Winter temperature in Gir (cold nights trigger flowering)
  • Flowering period (December–February)
  • Fruit development (March–April)
  • Harvest readiness (mid-April onwards)

This natural cycle cannot be rushed. Farmers in Gir do not use artificial chemicals to force early ripening — which is why authentic Kesar mango has the flavour that no off-season fruit can match.

How Is Kesar Mango Harvested?

At our farm in Pandava, Veraval, the harvest process follows generations-old practices:

1. Hand-picking only
Each Kesar mango is hand-picked individually. No mechanical shaking of trees — this bruises the fruit and reduces shelf life. Our farmers check each mango by eye and hand before picking.

2. Harvested at correct maturity
We pick when the mango has reached 85–90% natural ripeness on the tree. This ensures it arrives at your home at perfect eating stage after 1–2 days of resting at room temperature.

3. No calcium carbide ripening
Calcium carbide is an illegal artificial ripening agent used widely in India. We never use it. Our mangoes ripen naturally — the colour, aroma, and sweetness develop on their own.

4. Packed fresh
After harvesting, each mango is individually wrapped in foam netting, packed in a corrugated box, and dispatched within 24 hours.

Why 2026 Season Looks Promising

This year, the Gir region had good winter temperatures, strong flowering, and adequate rainfall. Early indications from our farm show:

  • Good fruit size — medium to large Kesar mangoes
  • High sugar content — early taste tests show excellent sweetness
  • Rich colour — deep saffron flesh developing as expected
  • Healthy yield — strong crop across our 4-acre organic farm

We expect May and June 2026 to be particularly good months for quality and availability.

Tips to Enjoy Kesar Mango at Its Best

  • Do not refrigerate firm mangoes — let them finish ripening at room temperature first

  • Cut and freeze pulp — if you receive more than you can eat, scoop the pulp and freeze in airtight containers for smoothies and desserts later
  • Eat within 3–4 days of ripening — Kesar mango does not keep long once fully ripe
